Aerobiology Laboratory Associates is accredited under the Environmental Microbiology Laboratory Accreditation Program (EMLAP). Accreditation demonstrates compliance with ISO 17025 “General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories”. EMLAP accredits laboratories in identifying bacteria and fungi commonly detected in air, liquids and bulk samples during indoor air quality studies. There is a mandatory proficiency program, both external and internal to receive this accreditation. Aerobiology’s “Fields of Testing” accreditation includes viable bacteria and fungi from air, fluid and bulk samples and direct microscopic examination (spore trap, tape preps) of air, surface and bulk for fungi.

AIHA accredited laboratories offer the assurance to their clients that the laboratory has met defined standards for performance based on examination of a variety of criteria. It demonstrates that the management and personnel in the laboratory have the credentials and education to analyze samples and participate in the quality program.

Under the ELITE program certification by CDC for the isolation and identification of Legionella pneumophila our laboratory testing standards meet the “Golden Rule” of Legionella analysis. We are able to analyze Legionella samples by the CDC Method, Legiolert and qPCR. We hold NY State Department of Health ELAP for potable and non-potable water samples. We are also able to provide referrals for those who need assistance with their water management plans through our strategic partnerships to meet ASHRAE 188-2015 guidelines.

We are accredited by the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) for bulk asbestos samples. We currently have four NVLAP accredited laboratories in our network to meet the needs of our asbestos clients. We offer PCM, point counting as well as other services to support your testing needs.

We assist our clients in developing a defensible and technical approach to building related investigations, in-depth microbiology support of data, product development/challenges and asbestos building related material analyses.
