The Lab Technician II receives/logs-in environmental samples; contacts clients concerning their samples or COC or TAT (if necessary); sets up samples for culture or direct read analysis; assists in the preparation of slides, tubes, or other materials used in analytical procedures; sends out supplies and packages to clients; performs limited testing (e.g., potable water testing) under the direct supervision of a qualified analyst and/or Laboratory Supervisor; works with database (our proprietary LIMS) and/or excel spreadsheets.

Preferred Skills:
-Knowledge of sterile techniques used in laboratory methods; serial dilutions, plating, etc.
-Proficiency in high volume data entry with excel and/or computer database (we will train you in our LIMS)
-Great customer relations and communication skills
-Attention to detail

Education/experience required:
– Bachelor’s degree or two (2) years of Community College in biology or related life science with at least one (1) year of demonstrated laboratory experience in a commercial work environment (this does not include college lab experience)
-Will have knowledge of aseptic techniques and isolation of microorganisms.
-Ability to interact with clients on sample accessioning and procurement and related client issues.
-Ability to work with minimum supervision and also as a part of a team.
-Ability to coordinate multiple assignments and diverse activities.
-Ability to learn new techniques and multi task simultaneously.
